Listener Terms

Last Updated: June 2026

These additional rules apply to anyone who switches on Listener mode inside the Callmate app and accepts paid calls from other users. They sit on top of, and don't replace, our general Terms of Use. Listening is voluntary — you can turn it off any time from Settings → Listener Mode.

By tapping “Become a listener” you confirm you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms with Callmate Technologies Pvt. Ltd..

1. The relationship

You are an independent service provider, not our employee. Nothing here creates an employer / employee, partnership, or joint-venture relationship. You decide when to log in, how long to stay available, and which calls to accept.

2. What we expect on a call

Listening is a trust-based service. Users come to Callmate to be heard. Specifically you will:

  • Be respectful regardless of caller's gender, language, accent, religion or worldview.
  • Stay sober and audibly clear; loud public places, traffic noise, or other people in the room are not acceptable for paid calls.
  • Never give medical, legal, financial, or psychiatric advice. Always refer users to a qualified professional when the conversation veers there.
  • Treat anything shared on a call as confidential — don't repeat it outside the call, post screenshots, or share recordings.
  • Never ask for, accept, or send a contact number, UPI ID, payment, or gift outside the app. All compensation goes through the wallet.

3. Forbidden

  • Sexual content, role-play, or solicitation of any kind on the call.
  • Promoting religion, politics, network-marketing schemes, or competing platforms.
  • Fake calls, ghost calls, multiple devices, or any pattern of activity designed to inflate earnings. Account is forfeited on first detection.
  • Recording, screen-sharing, transcribing, or redistributing any call — ours or yours — outside the app.
  • Discrimination, hate speech, threats, or verbal abuse, ever.

4. Eligibility to be paid

Anyone over 18 can apply, but to start earning you must:

  • Complete identity verification (PAN + UPI VPA at minimum).
  • Pass the introductory listener orientation (a short in-app walkthrough).
  • Maintain a rolling user-feedback score above the minimum we publish in the app (currently 4.0 / 5).
  • Have no active safety strikes (an unresolved abuse report immediately freezes earnings).

We may revise these requirements with 14 days' in-app notice.

5. Earnings and payouts

  • We credit your wallet a per-minute share of the user's coin spend, net of our platform fee. The split is published in-app and may be changed with 14 days' notice; continuing to take calls after a change accepts it.
  • Withdraw to your verified UPI VPA from ₹50 onward. We typically approve within 24 working hours; once approved, your bank usually credits within minutes.
  • Earnings older than 365 days that remain unwithdrawn are forfeited.
  • Where the law requires us to deduct TDS or any other tax, we will withhold and remit it; you remain responsible for declaring your overall income.
  • We may withhold a withdrawal during an active safety investigation. If you are cleared, the withhold is released; if you are at fault, the earnings tied to the disputed call(s) are forfeited.

6. Quality, monitoring and removal

We may sample audio waveforms, abuse signals, and call metadata to keep the platform safe. We do not sell, share or publish your voice recordings. If users report you and the report is upheld, we may temporarily mute or permanently remove your Listener access. You can appeal once by writing to support@callmate.co.in; our decision after appeal is final.

7. Intellectual property and licence

Your voice and likeness during a call remain yours. By using the listener feature you grant Callmate Technologies Pvt. Ltd. a non-exclusive licence to transmit the call to the connected user and to retain anti-abuse signals for moderation. We do not use call content for marketing without specific written permission from you.

8. Confidentiality

You will treat anything you learn from a caller — personal stories, contact details voluntarily shared, anything described as private — as strictly confidential. The obligation survives the end of your Listener engagement.

9. Indemnity and liability

You will reimburse Callmate Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for any third-party claim that arises from your actions on a call or your breach of these Terms. Conversely, our total liability to you for any claim related to your Listener engagement is capped at the earnings credited to your wallet in the three months before the event.

10. Ending the relationship

You can stop being a Listener instantly from Settings → Listener Mode. We can end your Listener access for breach, regulatory reasons, or when we sunset the Listener programme; in any of those cases legitimate, verified earnings will still be paid out. Sections about confidentiality, indemnity, IP, and limits of liability survive termination.

11. Miscellaneous

  • These Terms are governed by Indian law; disputes go to the Bengaluru courts.
  • You may not assign these Terms to anyone else. We may, in a corporate event, with the new owner taking the same obligations.
  • If a clause is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
  • This is the entire agreement on listener engagement; in-app guidance or FAQs are informational only.
